Large lifting equipment and cranes generally move high to very-high loads. In (container) ports, in offshore applications or on construction sites, (failure) safety in the movement of goods and loads is important. Man and machine must be protected equally and a smooth process must be ensured. Among other things, when moving loads, tension links, which are placed directly in the force flow, ensure safe operation in order to prevent overloading of the machinery. These force transducers are available in very small dimensions up to very large formats. Tension links from WIKA with proven thin-film technology guarantee maximum safety in their application thanks to their first-rate quality.

Description

What is a tension link?

The tension link is a measuring instrument for measuring tension forces, which has a low weight of its own and a high measuring accuracy. Tension links ensure the safety of man and machine when moving heavy loads. They are placed directly in the force flow and are used for static and dynamic measuring requirements. The tension link is also frequently used as a crane scale, where it permanently measures the tension forces applied and thus prevents hazards due to overloading.

How do tension links work?

WIKA uses thin-film technology to measure the force with the tension link. The tension link is placed directly in the force flow, guaranteeing reliable force measurement even with very large loads.

When are tension links used?

Tension links are used for load detection in hoists and crane systems, either as a torque support or as a rope anchor. The tension links are also used in conveyor systems, for rope tension measurement and in ship lifting technology. They are also often used as a connecting element between clevis mounts and in rope constructions. WIKA tension links also offer the highest level of safety for hazardous areas.
